Just a quick post to say I’m up here at Falls Creek (in the Victorian alpine region) for about 10 days, along with a large portion of the Australian distance running community. It’s very relaxing up here (it can also be a little boring), but if you can train hard and smart while here, you can go back in pretty good form.
So, that’s what I want to do. I’ve had a few niggles the last month or so, but I’m trying to get the body in better shape while I’m up here, and simultaneously enjoy my time off work. I’ve learned over the last seven months that the body doesn’t recover as quickly anymore, and I have to take extra special care of it. That has meant lots of lazing around, and lots of family time with Heidi and Annabelle. I’m loving it, and given the fact I start a new job on 20th January at Macquarie Group, I need to maximize this relaxation time.
Anyway, over the next few days I’m going to try to put myself in a position so I can start 2014 better than I ended 2013. Maybe that can be my new years resolutions: Take better care of my body. Take care over the new year period, and enjoy any time off you are having.
