JEFFREY Hunt has been running 180km a week to train for his first Olympics.

The Randwick Botany Harriers athlete will run the 42km marathon at the London Olympic Games.

He said if he runs his best, he can finish in the top 20.

“I don’t know until about 90 minutes through the race if it will be a good day or a bad day,” he said.

“If I run in the ballpark of 2.11 (2 hours 11 minutes), 2.12, which I can do, that should get me in the top 20 and that’s what I am aiming for, but it depends on how the race is run.

“In Athens, 2.11 would have got me a medal.”

The 29-year-old said he gets nervous every time he starts the mentally and physically exhausting race.
