Next month’s Gold Coast Airport Marathon will feature two of the most promising marathon runners Australia has produced since the golden era of Rob de Castella, Steve Moneghetti and Pat Carroll in the 80s and 90s.

One of those runners is Gold Coast’s own Michael Shelley, 27, who recently produced a marathon personal best of 2 hours 11 minutes 38 seconds for a top 10 finish in the prestigious London Marathon.

The other runner is Sydney’s Jeff Hunt, 28, who clocked his personal best of 2:11:00 last year in Beppu, Japan, in his first-ever marathon.
